Doughnut causes city chaos

A hungry office worker created a morning-tea-time drama in Burnie's CBD this morning as hundreds of workers were evacuated from the city's tallest building, because of a charred doughnut.

The Tasmania Fire Service was called when the ground floor of Reece House filled with smoke after the doughnut burst into flames inside a microwave.

The evacuated workers huddled in the rain as firefighters removed the troublesome donut and blew the smoke out of the building.

The worker responsible said she had set the microwave correctly but the appliance had malfunctioned.

There could be a hole in her argument, however.
