Gun-toting robber flees with cash

A MASKED man armed with a gun has stolen cash during a hotel robbery in Melbourne's north.

Police said the man entered the hotel in Sydney Road, Coburg, at about 12.20am (AEST) today.

The man approached staff in the gaming area demanding money and when he was given some cash, he went behind the counter looking for more.

The bandit fled when he saw security staff approaching.

A police search using the dog squad unit failed to find the man.

He is described as 183cm tall, wearing a black jacket, black pants and carrying a green bag.
