Pub Crowd 'Turned on Police Officers'
AT least 11 people will face charges after a drunken crowd turned on police at a hotel, near Rockhampton, in central Queensland overnight.Police were called to the Grand Hotel in Mt Morgan just after 11pm (AEST) yesterday following reports a woman inside the pub had been assaulted.
As they approached the pub, police were forced to calm several brawls between drunken patrons and ordered the publican to lock the doors after glasses were thrown at the officers.
Police said they were then forced to use OC spray when about 40 people began attacking them as they exited the pub.
Three men, aged 34, 21 and 19 were arrested at the scene, while a further eight people were charged earlier today.
They are expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
Further arrests are expected.
