Pub workers catch a thief

Police allege a 38-year-old man entered the Forest Lake Tavern at 2.15pm yesterday and made his way to a cash register.

He allegedly opened it and stole money before a female employee challenged him.

Police said the man allegedly pushed past her and into the car park.

Two male employees chased him. They detained him before handing him over to police.

One of the men was taken by ambulance to hospital for observation after exacerbating a pre-existing medical condition.

The female employee suffered minor abrasions.

Police charged the man with assault, robbery and enter premise with intent.

He will appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today.

Meanwhile in Springwood police have charged a man after an alleged attempted robbery at a convenience store on Watland Street yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3.30pm at the 727 Convenience Store when a man allegedly demanded money and threatened a female employee.

He then allegedly fled with his accomplice. The attendant fled for help a short time later.

Police charged a 26-year-old Sunnybank man with one count of demand property with menace. He was bailed to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 7.

A second man in assisting police with their inquiries.
